BC Basketball Loses One Of Their Officials & Coach, Felix Gonzalez

The Basketball BC are mourning the death of one of their officials and coach, Felix Gonzalez who reportedly passed away today February 24 2021.

The news of his death was announced to the public via the club’s website. The cause of his death is not yet known at the time of filing this report.

His brief profile as a coach on the website states that Felix coached in BC Summer Games leading the Fraser River Boys Zone Team on multiple occasions, as well as leading the Burnaby/New Westminster Zone Team at many Basketball BC Zone Championships over the years.

He also coached the High School boys basketball at New Westminster Secondary. Felix did the coaching job at the school for many years.

Reacting to the news of Felix’s death, The Basketball BC wrote on their Twitter page – We are deeply saddened to hear of the passing of BC basketball official and coach, Felix Gonzalez. Basketball BC was fortunate to have Felix coach in the BC Summer Games and Zone Championships over the years.

The Terry Fox Athletics has also reacted to the death of Coach Felix. They said he referred to many Raven games and tournaments.

In a series of tweets they wrote – Terry Fox Basketball and Athletics is saddened to hear of the passing of BC Basketball official Felix Gonzalez. He referred to many Raven games and tournaments. Our thoughts are with his family, friends and basketball community. Felix you will be forever missed.
