Popular Hong Kong Actor, Wu Meng Da Dies At 70

Information reaching our news desk has it that a popular Hong Kong actor Wu Meng Da has passed away. Reports say the veteran actor died today Saturday, February 27 2021 after battling liver cancer. He died at the age of 70.
Wu Meng Da died at 5:16 pm in Union hospital surrounded by his family members, including his wife, children and siblings.

One of his close friends, Tenky Tin Kai-man who confirmed the news of Wu’s death said “He left us peacefully. Doctors had been prescribing medications to make him feel better, he passed away in his sleep,” Tin said.

Wu Meng Da began his acting career when he was 22 in 1973. He is popularly known for his roles in movies with comedian Stephen Chow Sing-chi, including “The Final Combat”, “The Justice of Life” and “Shaolin Soccer.”
In 1991, the late actor was awarded Hong Kong Film Award’s Best Supporting Actor for his role in “A Moment of Romance,” featuring prominent star Andy Lau Tak-wah.
In 2013 Wu Meng Da was admitted to the hospital for heart failure due to a viral infection and ever since then, he has been in poor health.
Early this month, it was reported that he had liver cancer. He had undergone surgery in Dec 2020 to survive the crisis and was ready to receive chemotherapy.
His last movie collaboration with Stephen Chow was on Shaolin Soccer, a movie that was recorded as Hong Kong’s fourth highest-grossing film.
