Ryan David wrote – I’m just recollecting my thoughts and I’ve realized that Dave Henkel, although not close, is hitting me harder than I thought. You were one of those friendly faces around town I knew for aeons but never got to know. He was a good soul. I know everyone is taking this as a close hit to home. He will be missed tremendously.

Nadia Cote – We are all saddened to hear of your sudden loss. You are gone way too soon! Time can never fade the memories of you (my Whistler days for me, this is where I met you, and have only good memories ..). You have touched so many lives in so many ways … The beautiful moments you shared with all of us will never be forgotten. Sending my deepest and most heartfelt condolences to his family and closest friends!.

Phil Saunders – A tremendous loss to our community. Dave Henkel, I had the pleasure of calling you a friend of mine chasing you down some of the gnarliest snowboard laps I’ve ever know! You were a true shredder in every sense and embodied what it meant to have true love and respect for the mountains. I was so happy to reconnect with you after your time back from climbing. This hits hard, and I know there’s a lot of friends feeling the way I do this morning. Love to Dave and love to you all.
