Barrister Katie Dawson Has Passed Away



Information that flooded the social media today has it that talented Ireland barrister and advocate, Katie Dawson has reportedly passed away. She was reported to have died today February 8 2021. No cause of death has been reported yet.

Katie’s death news was confirmed in a social media post today. The KOD Lyons Human Rights Solicitors took to their Twitter handle to announce that Katie has passed on.

In a series of tweets they wrote – Katie Dawson BL was a much-loved colleague and friend to us at KOD Lyons. A fierce and able advocate and human rights campaigner in child and family law, women’s rights, domestic violence issues. We will miss her guidance, much-valued advice and good humour. RIP Katie.

Katie went to University College Cork where she bagged her Bachelor of Civil Law, Law in 2000. In 2002 she worked as a Refugee Legal Service – Legal Aid Board at Legal Clerk, In 2005 she officially became a Barrister.


Laura Slattery wrote – I’m so sad to see the news about @katiedawson23. I didn’t know her anywhere except here but I really liked following her — she was a great person with so much to contribute. My sympathies to her loved ones. Katie Dawson RIP.

Aisling de Paor wrote – This is such sad and shocking news. Katie Dawson was a wonderful supporter of @LawGovDCU and volunteered every year at our National Moot Court Competition and many other events. Many of our students and graduates experienced great kindness and help over the years. RIP Katie.

King’s Inns School wrote – RIP to our courageous and much-loved alumna, Katie Dawson BL. Everyone at King’s Inns are so saddened to hear of the passing of a young and talented lawyer.
