Major Fatima Isaacs has won her legal fight that allows Muslim women to wear hijabs with their uniforms.
The clinical forensic pathologist at a military hospital had faced dismissal for “willful defiance and disobeying a lawful command” for refusing to remove it.
Since the hijab is now accepted as part of SANDF’s dress code, this is how Major Isaacs reported working for the first time today, three years after her struggle to change the Military’s Religious Dress Code Policy.
Following her legal win, Major Fatima thanked the Legal Resource Centre (LRC), a rights group which took up her case in 2019.
