Mpumalanga Premier Refilwe Mtsweni-Tsipane  has revealed why she was not wearing her face mask during the funeral of Minister in the Presidency, Jackson Mthembu who passed away few days due to COVID-19 complication.

Refilwe Mtsweni-Tsipane was the eye spot at the funeral of Jackson Mthembu after her pictures walking into the event venue without a mask on her face. The pictures brought in lots of debate by South Africans as many condemned her actions.

She has since apologized to the public and as well revealed reasons why she walked in without putting her mask on. According to her the reason behind this is that, upon arrival at the cemetery and disembarking from her vehicle, her mask was “damaged” and she was “oblivious” to the fact that it had fallen off.

She said she thought that the mask was intact as had been the case throughout the proceedings.
