Prime Minister Edi Rama held a press conference, together with the new Foreign Minister Olta Xhaçka and the resigned Minister, Gent Cakaj.
Xhaçka, in her speech as a minister, said that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs should shine, as it is a reflection of the Albanian state in the eyes of the world.
“It was a dramatic year,” he said. I want to thank Prime Minister Rama and I have respect for Cakaj, for the professionalism to show him in office. I am privileged to have advisers for both of you (Rama and Cakaj). Your work makes my job a lot easier.
I do not have to invent the wheel, on the contrary. But, I will not be satisfied with what the ministers have done before, but to work as much as possible for our country. I will reform our diplomatic service. This ministry should shine in every direction because Albania is second in the world. “Our country should also shine in the Security Council”, said Xhaçka.
Olta Xhaçka underlined that it is a great honour for her, the fact that she has been entrusted with the post of Minister of Foreign Affairs of Albania, adding that she will try to fulfil her duty.
“It is a great honor for me to be entrusted with this task, I am grateful to the Prime Minister and the parliament. This debt that I owe to the Prime Minister and the Parliament of my country, I will try to pay off with work. I will be objective so that there are no problems in this ministry. May this year be successful, even in diplomacy. “I will do my best to advance what Cakaj and the Prime Minister have achieved,” Xhaçka declared.
Olta Xhaçka was born on 25 December 1979. She is an Albanian politician and Socialist Party member of Parliament.
