Former British track and field athlete, Lloyd Cowan has sadly passed away. Llyod was reported to have died today January 11 2021. Circumstances surrounding his death is not yet known to the public.
He specialised in the 110 and 400 metres hurdles.
After his retirement at the age of 39, Lloyd started off his coaching career. Before his death, Llyod was coaching 18 athletes, including Christine Ohuruogu, the former 400 metres Olympic, World and Commonwealth Champion; Simeon Williamson, the former British 100 metres champion; and Andy Turner, the former European and Commonwealth 110 metres hurdles championTurner, the former European and Commonwealth 110 metres hurdles champion.
The British Athletics in an official statement released through the official website confirmed that Lloyd Cowan has passed.

We are deeply saddened by the passing of Lloyd Cowan MBE. Our thoughts are with his family and friends at this time.
Lloyd specialised as a 110m and 400m hurdler during his athletics career before moving into coaching where he guided several British stars to global glory. Most notably, he coached Christine Ohuruogu to the 400m Olympic titles in 2008, and three further Olympic medals, including 400m silver on home soil at London 2012, as well as two memorable 400m world titles in 2007 and 2013, among many other honours. He also guided Andy Turner to Commonwealth and European 110m hurdles titles in 2010 before world championship bronze in 2011.
He coached several athletes to domestic and international honours during his career including his son, Dwayne, who he proudly saw capture world and European 4x400m relay bronze in 2017 and 2018 respectively.

Sadly, Lloyd passed away last night.
