Four students from Merck Teaching and Referral Hospital at Merck MCK Kaaga Academy have been admitted and 22 have been treated and discharged after their school bus overturned on the Meru-Kaaga bypass road on Thursday morning.
Joseph Ozef Wahome, executive director of Meru Teaching and Referral Hospital, said many of the students were slightly injured and only one needed surgery.
“Children are safe now, out of danger. Only four had broken limbs, and the others had scratches. “After the consultation, they will be released,” said Dr. Wambua.
According to Peter Wambua, commander of the Meru base, the bus, which had 51 students and one teacher, overturned sharply.
“The driver could not negotiate a sharp turn before the car overturned on the left. We urge drivers to be careful on the road, to ensure that they follow all the rules of the road, “said Mr. Wambua.
