Puerto Rican salsa singer and bandleader, Tito Rojas who is popularly known as “El Gallo Salsero” (The Salsa Rooster) has passed away. Tito was reported to have died today December 26, 2020, at the age of 65. Circumstances surrounding his death is not yet known as at the time of filing this report.
According to a reliable source, The veteran Puerto Rican salsa singer Tito Rojas died at dawn this Saturday at his 65 years of a suspected heart attack.
Jessica Rojas, one of the singer’s daughters, confirmed his death to the music radio station Salsoul.
The interpreter’s relatives were those who found him on the ground and without vital signs on the balcony of a residence in the Tejas neighbourhood of Humacao, a municipality on the east coast of Puerto Rico.
“This morning a call to 911 alerted about a medical case in a residence in the Tejas neighbourhood of Humacao,” these publications detail.
The last presentation that Rojas offered was a virtual one last Thursday, Christmas Eve, through his YouTube page, together with his orchestra.
Rojas, likewise, participated in the most recent production of the Puerto Rican salsa singer Gilberto Santa Rosa, “Colegas”, on the song “Por la calle del medio.”
“No one is eternal in the world, not even having a heart that feels and sighs for life and love so much … rest in peace, understood,” said Puerto Rican reggaeton player Don Omar on his Instagram account.
The singer worked with Conjunto Borincano, with which he released a record in 1980. Five years later he recorded with the Luisito Ayala orchestra and the Puerto Rican Power.
“El gallo salsero”, as Rojas was known, had a vast career spanning more than 40 years, in which he released other albums such as “A my style”, “By own right”, “Humildemente”, “I want to get to home “,” The usual “and” Traditional “.
His last production was “A rooster for history”.
Prior to that album, he released “El Viajero”, an album that he published under his own label, TR Records (the first was “Independiente”, published in 2012), and has eight songs.

This morning a call to 911 alerted about a “medical case” in a residence in the Tejas neighbourhood of Humacao.
It has been previously reported that the body of salsa singer Tito Rojas was found without vital signs on the balcony of the residence.
Police are currently investigating the scene.
Born and raised in the town of Humacao, Puerto Rico, which is located on the eastern coast of Puerto Rico. Tito Rojas enjoyed singing to his family and he would also sing the latest salsa tunes with his friends.
In 1975, he auditioned with Pedro Konga and his international orchestra and was hired as a singer.
Shortly afterwards, he left the band to join Conjunto Borincuba, led by Justo Betancourt as a soloist. With this group, he participated in the recording of Con Amor (Love With), which became a “hit” in 1978.
In the same year, Rojas joined Fania All-Stars and had a hit song with El Campesino (The Farmer).
While spending some time with Fania All-Stars, Rojas decided to start his own band, Conjunto Borincano, but the company fell short.
In 1987 and 1989 he had hits Noche de Bodas (wedding night) with salsa versions of Quiereme Tal Como Soy (Love me the way I am).
They came after he joined the Puerto Rican Power group.
Rojas recorded a solo concert in 1990 with Sensual (1990), Condename (1992) and A Mi Estilo (At My Style) (1994).
However, it was in 1995 that he recorded Por Propio Derecho (myself), which placed Rojas on the Latin Billboards chart.
He has earned the recognition he has always wanted when he has won a double Platinum Record Award, the Pauli Award for Best Salsa Artist of the Year and the ACE Awards.
In 1996 he co-starred with Humildemente (Humbly) and Pal ‘Pueblo (For My City), in 1999 he released his 20th Anniversario, Alegrias y Penas and Navidad con Tito.
