Chris Jarman was a graduate of West Memphis High School in 1989 and was a part of the well known “Drake and Zeke” show before coming to Memphis. He studied smack at the University of Memphis and worked at Graceland High School.
CBSSports sports columnist, Gary Parrish penning down his tribute via his official Facebook page described Chris as an icon on the radio in Memphis.
Gary Parrish Wrote – RIP: Chris Jarman – I am absolutely sick. I don’t know anybody who had more friends than Jarman. Everybody loved him. And he loved everybody. We had some good times. He was an icon on the radio in Memphis. Doesn’t seem fair that it ended too soon, and so abruptly, for such a generous guy. 2020 is the worst.
Brad Carson Wrote – Like you, my wife Stacy and I are reading about Memphis losing it’s best friend tonight, Chris Jarman. This hits close to home. He was everyone’s best friend.
His connection with us starts with my wife, who worked with him at Graceland back in the day. They worked together there during her college years. She was a tour guide. Jar was a security guard. But he was the life of the party at Marlowe’s.
Jarman loved life like no one else. He would text me about his Cardinals. He’d share success’ with me, even texting pictures of my station banners on ESPN TV last Fall. I’d text him all the time because of his success. We both realized how hard the radio biz can be, but we both shared the luck that goes with small-town kids working in it. Jarman is the most famous Memphian from West Memphis. All you had to do was ask him. I loved him, just like you. He was the real Memphis deal.
I’m sad for his radio family tonight. I’m really sad. 2020, yes, he would tell it to F off too.
But instead, I want to focus on him. Because he was awesome. He was the energetic light who walked on his toes. On the radio. On Facebook. At the bar. Or like in this picture, at the Motley Crue concert with us.
John McCormack Wrote – RIP Chris Jarman Jarman Chris You made a real difference in the lives of the kids of St Jude and the communities in the Mid South. Rest peacefully sir-job well done The Jar tragically passed away today. We are all heartbroken by this news.
Mac Ron Mcintyre Wrote – Chris Jarman was and is a Memphis Radio Legend. He always made everyone laugh at my bar. Took the time to talk to everyone that would just walk up to him cause they heard his voice or the guy at the end of the bar yelling out his name. He took care of a lot of people and put his name on many charities around Memphis & Jarkansas. He will be greatly missed by everyone. Amber & I are both truly blessed to have called him a Friend. Love You, My Brother, From Another Mother. RIP Jar!
