John Fletcher Of Whodini Music Group Has Passed Away



John Fletcher, a.k.a. Ecstasy of Whodini hip hop rap group who wore a Zorro-style hat as his trademark has passed away.

John Fletcher was reported to have died today December 22 2020. Circumstances surrounding his death is not yet known as at the time of filing this report.

American singer, Questlove took to his official Facebook page to confirm that John Fletcher has passed on.

He shared the picture of him with Fletcher and wrote – One Love to Ecstasy of the Legendary #Whodini. This man was legendary and a pivotal member of one of the most legendary groups in hip hop. This is  sad man.

Also reacting to his death singer, Jerry Parson wrote on Twitter – Well, this just sucks, man. I saw Whodini about 6 times in the 80s and was and still am a fan of them.

Always a great show. I looked up to these guys as a young kid. It was Run Dmc and these guys who really started it for me in the early 80s.

The band’s live performances were the first rap concerts with breakdance dancers from UTFO. The band was led by Russell Simmons in the 1980s.


The band has released six studio albums. The band’s 14 singles appeared in the charts of the American magazine Billboard. The band’s four albums were platinum certified by the RIAA for their Billboard Hot 100 single “Friends”.
