What Happened To Popular Activist, Karima Baloch?

Renowned activist and former chairperson of Baloch Students Organisation, Karima Baloch has passed away. Karima Baloch who was earlier reported missing was found dead in Toronto, Canada.

According to The Toronto police, Karima was last seen wearing black jeans, grey Roots hooded sweatshirt, black Doc Martin high top boots, black long Canada Goose winter jacket, and a yellow or green Uniqlo purse with black strap.

Search for Karima Baloch whereabout by the police has been halted after her family confirmed that Karima’s body has been found but deceased.

Karima Baloch, a famous personality in Balochistan, is believed to be the pioneer of women activism in Balochistan. She has also raised the issue of Balochistan in United Nations sessions in Switzerland.

In 2016 Karima Baloch was honoured by the BBC as one of the world’s 100 most inspirational and influential women.

In an interview in May 2019, she had accused Pakistan of taking away the resources and eliminating the people of Balochistan, the province with immense geo-strategic importance and huge untapped natural resource reserves.
Balochistan Post said that the sudden death of the activist has raised serious concern.

In 2006 Karima Baloch, a psychology student became the leader of BSO-AZAD group after the abduction of its former leader Zahid Baloch. The former leader Zahid Baloch was abducted in Quetta in March 2014 in front of eyewitnesses by men who arrived in SUVs used by the Pakistan Army.

In November 2015, Karima Baloch went to Canada as a refugee. She said that she escaped a Pakistani military attack on the town of Tump and stayed underground for nearly a year before arriving in Toronto.
