Former Syracuse defensive back & current Dallas Cowboys strength & conditioning coach Markus Paul passed away suddenly today

Mark Paul died today as reported by Pat McAFLEET through a Twitter post released today.

 

Markus Paul (born April 1, 1966) is a former American footballer. He also served as Chief of Staff of Ventilation Coach for several NFL teams from 1998-2020.

Paul attended Osseola High School in Kissimmee, Florida, where he played football as an all-state midfielder-defender.

He attended Syracuse University, where he played football as a security guard from 1984-1998. As an adult, he earned all the first-team American awards from Sporting News, setting a school record with 19 career interruptions.

1989 The Chicago Bears select Paul in the fourth round of the 1989 NFL. In five seasons with the team, he started 30 games, 15 in each safety position.

He played his last game of the 1993 season against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
