The actor has acted in more than 140 films as a supporting character.
A number of Hollywood actors, including Vijay Setupat, Sorin, Sivakartikian, Sundarajan, and Silambarasan TR, provided financial assistance to the actor as he struggled to pay for his treatment.
Rajinikant also offered financial support to the actor.
A video surfaced on the Internet in recent days showing actor Tavas asking for financial help to treat his cancer. The disease severely damaged Tavasi, as he lost a lot of weight.
“I starred in the films Kizhakku Cheemayile (1993) and most recently Rajinikanth’s Annaatthe. “I never thought I would get such an illness,” Tavasi said in the video, asking for help from members of the film’s fraternity.
Tavasi’s miserable situation sheds light on the plight of junior actors who spend their entire lives as extras for movies hoping to find a break.
