Harrison Riedel Death: Suicide & Your Crew App – Things You Need To Know!!

Published

on

Harrison Riedel was a 13-year-old boy who took his own life seven years ago. Harrison’s mom, Amanda Riedel is the founder of Harrison Riedel Foundation and current CEO and Company Secretary. After the death of her son, Harrison, Amanda delayed doctoral research she was pursuing in the Faculty of Business and Economics at Macquarie University and began to develop a concept to increase the rate of help-seeking for our youth.

When Amanda Riedel’s 13-year-old son committed suicide, she started the Harrison Riedel Foundation and developed an app called YourCrew.

There were no warning signs that Harrison was unhappy and it made Amanda realise that there needed to be a way for kids to communicate how they were feeling in a safe space.

What Is YourCrew App All About?

YourCrew, is a way for kids to establish their own personal “crew” who take an oath to care for each other and to communicate and track how they are feeling.

The app is a simple, effective and powerful mobile app that allows young people to ask for help when they need it most – from people they know.

YourCrew evolved from lived experience and research into youth suicide and youth help-seeking (or lack of).

If there are a couple of negative days registered in a row, the Crew checks in to offer support. It also has links to Kids Helpline and a list of nearby safe places should you feel threatened.
