Police have arrested four other suspects in connection with the killing of 16-year-old Jordan Moore from Atlantis just before Kate Town.
The four men between the ages of 20 and 36 appeared briefly in the Atlantis Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday on murder charges.
Jordan, 16-year-old who came from the Saxon Sea was brutally killed on November 6 2020.
Police spokesman FC van Wyk confirmed that the suspects had been arrested on Sunday.
“This office can confirm that four suspects between the ages of 20 and 36 were arrested on November 15, 2020 on murder charges. “They have to appear in the Atlantis Magistrates’ Court today (Tuesday), where the appeal will take place,” Van Weik said.
A number of community members stood before the court, summoning their leaders.
Residents, including many schoolchildren, carried placards demanding the death penalty, no bail for the accused, and Moore for justice.
Eric Ntabazalia, the spokesman for the National Prosecutor’s Office (NPA), confirmed that the accused would apply for bail.
“This morning four more accused appeared at the same court on the same charges of murder as the other two suspects. Their case has been postponed to November 24, 2020, for a formal bail application,” Ntabazalila said.
Few days ago, two suspects, aged 18 and 24, appeared for the murder.
They where refused bail, and their case was postponed until January 22, 2021.
According to information gathered, Jordan Moore’s two friends were approached by two men who allegedly confronted them on Rietsanger Avenue in Robinvale.
The men allegedly forced the three boys to buy them drinks at a local shebeen. Two of the young men managed to escape and ask for help, but Moore could not escape.
The perpetrators allegedly abducted Moore, stabbed him, and had his dog executed.
