Australia – Police have identified the young woman killed in her family home in Melbourne’s northeast.
Her name is Celeste Mano, a 23-year-old woman. She was found in Mernda shortly after 4 a.m. Monday morning.
Investigators from the Assassination Squad were called to the scene and launched an investigation.
A 35-year-old man believed to be known to Manno has been arrested in connection with his death.
Police said in a statement that the two were believed to be “acquainted with each other” but did not provide further details.
He was taken to hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries, where he remains under police surveillance.
Tributes to Mano began to flow during that time.
Many gathered at her home on Monday to lay flowers, while others hugged each other on the road with tears in their eyes.
Friends pay tribute online to “the most loving, generous, kind-hearted friend.”
Police are still investigating whether anyone broke into the house as blood was seen near the top of the side fence.
