Popular Bake Off star, Luis Troyano dies at the age of 48



Bake Off star Luis Troyano has died at the age of 48 from esophageal cancer.

He was a participant in the final round of the former British Bake Off, died of esophageal cancer at the age of 48.

Troyano agent Anne Kibel broke the news on Twitter.

“Sadly, last week my dear client lost the courageous fight against esophageal cancer,” he said.

Trojano, a graphic designer based in Manchester, appeared on the show when it was still on the BBC in 2014.

He finished second, behind Nancy Bertheistle.

He also appeared regularly on the BBC’s Good Food channel.

Trojano’s wife, Louise, created the Just Giving page to raise money for Macmillan Support.

He paid tribute to Trojanos, writing: “Your life was a blessing, your memory a treasure, you are loved beyond words, you miss it too much.”

Trojano was also honored by Nadia Hussein, who won the GBBO in 2015. Sharing Kibel’s Twitter post, he wrote: «RIP X»:

In 2018, Trojano put his final apron up for auction through Stand Up To Cancer.

“Now let’s understand here, this apron was NOT washed, because it was worn in the final, there were shower stains on it, sweat, the smell of the tent.” he wrote in a note accompanying the donation.

“I will shed tears the day this leaves me, but I know it is for a great purpose.”

He decided to auction the item in memory of his father, who died of cancer when Trojano was 16 years old.
