Nashville Bass Player Shawn Scruggs Has Passed Away

Nashville bass player Shawn Scruggs has sadly passed away. Shawn Scruggs was reported to have died in a tragic accident hours ago in Nashville after a gig.

According to a Metro police report, Shawn Scruggs was found dead at 7 a.m. Sunday after a collision between two tractor-trailers at 65 North Interstate 65 near Dickerson Pike.

Preliminary investigation revealed that the tractor-trailer was parked on the I-65 North when Scrags, driving the 2008 Chevrolet Blazer, collided with the rear of the semi-final.

Scrags died at the scene, police said.

The driver of the tractor-trailer, 32-year-old Desmond Lewis from Louisiana, was not injured.

According to police, the evidence at the scene does not show that Scrags tried to stop or avoid the collision. Police said there was no evidence of alcohol or drugs at the scene.

Shawn Scruggs began his bass playing career in his hometown of Louisville, Ky. more than two decades ago. Always having an ear for the bass in every song, Shawn knew bass guitar would be his musical instrument of choice early on.

Throughout his years residing in Nashville, Tenn. Shawn has been privileged to share the stage with many hitmakers. He continues to make a name for himself while touring and recording with some of country music’s greatest artists.
