Who is Jacqueline Gleeson
Meet Jacqueline Gleeson, the new Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, replacing retired Judges Geoffrey Nitley and Virginia Bell
Coming from Sydney Australia, Jacqueline was appointed to the Australian Federal Court in April 2014. her place of honour is in the Sydney Registry of the Court, the Court’s Commercial Registration Officer, and the Judge on Duty.
She holds a Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Laws and a Master of Laws from the University of Sydney. He was hired as a lawyer in New South Wales in 1990 and as a lawyer in 1991. In 2000, he resigned from his Lawyer of Honor, becoming Chief Advisor to the Australian Broadcasting Corporation and later Senior Executive Advocate for the Australian Government. His Honorary Retired Lawyer returned in 2007 and became a Senior Advisor in 2012.
She is the eldest daughter of Murray Gleeson.
Her Honorary Member is a member of the Steering Committee of the National Judicial Orientation Program of the National Judicial College of Australia.
She served as general counsel at the Australian Broadcasting Authority, now the Australian Communications and Media Authority, and later as a senior executive lawyer for the Australian Government Solicitor.
Justice Gleeson becomes the sixth woman ever to serve on the seven-member High Court, is the daughter of former High Court Chief Justice Murray Gleeson and has a strong background in commercial law as a former barrister and solicitor.

There are two Partners working in the chambers of Justice Gleeson. Each position usually lasts 12-18 months. The next vacancy will start in July 2022.
