Three interior officials were arrested on Tuesday, including one who demanded a 10,000-ruble bribe from a documented foreigner from a foreigner with illegitimate documents, Limpopo.

The persons, aged 30 to 42, were apprehended by the Hawks Serious Corruption Investigation Unit’s anti-corruption team at home on corruption charges. This was stated by Hawks spokesman Captain Matimba Maluleke.

“The suspects, who include Nebo’s Immigration Officer’s two Immigration Officers, Jane Ein Fors, allegedly conducted a routine search of a foreign-owned store to find an undocumented immigrant.

“Instead of arresting him, the authorities allegedly demanded R10,000 satisfaction for his release. “The amount was reportedly reduced to R4,000, which the victim paid to the suspects.”

Hawks was notified and promptly investigated and arrested.

They were expected to appear in Motetema Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday.
