19-year-old Woman Shot & Killed During Carjacking In Philadelphia

Skyler Owen has been identified as the young woman who lost her life during carjacking in Philadelphia’s Germantown neighbourhood early Thursday morning. Police have confirmed that the shooter was also killed by officers responding to the scene.

According to Philadelphia police, the tragic incident happened around 4 a.m. A 29-year-old man, armed with an assault-style weapon, entered Saint Luke’s Episcopal Church on the 5400 block of Germantown Avenue and approached an employee, shot at the worker thereafter went off with her key alongside her car. The shooter then crashed along Greene Street.

He got out of that car, which later appeared to have a flat tire, around 4:15 a.m. and tried to carjack a woman, firing several shots, police said. That woman backed up and was able to get away.

He then attacked a 19-year-old woman driving an Infiniti around Chelten Avenue and Greene Street, police said. During that interaction, the man shot the woman, leaving her in the car.

Skylar Owen 19yrs of age with the help of officers was rushed to the hospital but was later pronounced dead.
