Daughter of Queensland sporting greats Grant Kenny and Lisa Curry is dead

She died at the age of 33 after a long battle with a long terminal illness. Jaimi Curry Kenny is the eldest child of former Olympian Lisa Curry and former Ironman Grant Kenny who split in 2009.

Grant Kenny released a statement today, saying Jaimi had “lost her battle with a long-term illness and passed away peacefully in hospital this morning in the company of loving family” at Sunshine Coast University Hospital.

“Jaimi will forever be remembered as a caring, bright and loving soul who always put others before herself,” Mr Kenny wrote in the statement.

“Our hearts are broken and the pain is immense but we must move forward cherishing every wonderful moment we got to share with our treasured first child.

“We thank the incredible team at the Sunshine Coast University Hospital for their tireless commitment to making her better and giving us as the extra time we were able to spend with her.”

Lisa, The former Olympic swimmer was rushed to hospital on New Year’s Day after waking up with a severely swollen throat.

The 57-year-old took to Instagram on Wednesday to detail the health scare, sharing a photo of herself lying on a bed in hospital surrounded by medical equipment.

“My goal for the year was to slow the heck down… before I even got a chance to slow down, I ended up here in a Melbourne hospital,” Lisa explained in the caption.

“New Year’s Day lovely lunch with friends, go home for a nana nap, woke up unable to breathe… my throat and tongue swollen and so scary not to be able to get a proper breath,” she added.

Lisa went on to explain that the ordeal has reminded her to look after he health and take life at a slower pace.

“We only tend to slow down when we are FORCED to. When we feel ok, we keep pushing and pushing,” she wrote.

While Lisa admitted she is still none the wiser as to what caused her tongue to swell, she explained that she is “quite allergic” to things in the air and plants.

Jaimi Curry Kenny Charge Was Charged In 2014 For High Range Drink-driving

In 2014 Jaimi Lee Kenny was fine and charged to court after a high range drink-driving charge.

According to a court, Jaimi Lee Kenny drank up to 16 Strongbow stubbies before getting behind the wheel and swerving all over the road on the Sunshine Coast.

During interrogation, she confirmed to police that she had been drinking all day and had a problem with alcohol.

The defendant told court Jamie Lee Kenny was caught driving while more than four times over the legal alcohol level.

Jaimi Lee Kenny was found to have a blood alcohol reading of 0.23 per cent when she was stopped by police on the Sunshine Motorway at Mountain Creek on November 29.
