Unconfirmed Report: Sabah Al-ahmad Al-jaber Al-sabah Has Passed Away



An unconfirmed report currently making rounds all over the social media has it that Emir of Kuwait and the Commander of the Kuwait Military Forces, Sabah Al-ahmad Al-jaber Al-sabah has passed away.

According to Journalist, Researcher and CNN editorial, Mete Sohtaoglu in a news he shared on twitter, The Emir of Kuwait Sabah Al- Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah passed away in a hospital in Minnesota, US.

His tweets – Speaker of parliament leaves the session as well with the government to meet the Crown Prince (deputy Emir) at Bayan Palace. Pushpin(Unconfirmed so far) Emir of #Kuwait Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah has passed away in a hospital in Minnesota, USA.

CNN Middle East journalist, Ali Younes also confirmed in a series of tweets via his twitter handle that the Amir has passed on.

His Tweets – Emir of Kuwait Sheikh Sabah al-Ahmad al-Jaber al-Sabah is dead. He was 91 years old. His death will be announced in a few hours today. #kuwait.

The Speaker of the Kuwaiti National Assembly and members of the Assembly leave the session and reports that they are heading to Bayan Palace to meet with the Crown Prince – speculation has emerged about the health of the Emir of Kuwait.

Kuwait’s 91-year-old ruler was a few days ago admitted to hospital for a medical checkup. The country’s crown prince temporarily took over some of the Emir’s duties.

Sheikh Sabah was sworn in as the Amir of Kuwait in January 2006 after confirmation by the National Assembly. He has pushed for diplomacy to solve regional issues, such as the continuing boycott of Qatar by four Arab nations, and hosted major donor conferences for war-torn nations like Iraq and Syria.

In August 2019, Kuwait acknowledged the emir suffered an unspecified medical “setback” that required him to be hospitalized.

Kuwait would be the next stage of the UAE\KSA vs Qatar feud, the country that has been enjoying a relatively democratic atmosphere, compared to other Arab countries, is undergoing a serious financial crisis like Oman, both sides want to gain power inside the regime.

Few Things You Need To Know About Sabah Al-ahmad Al-jaber Al-sabah

Al-Sabah was born on 16 June 1929. He received primary education at Al Mubarakya School in the 1930s and completed his education under tutors. He is the half-brother of the previous Emir of Kuwait, Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, who appointed Sabah as Prime Minister in July 2003, replacing the Crown Prince of Kuwait, Sheikh Saad Al-Salim Al-Sabah.

His brother was killed in the deliberate crash of Royal Air Maroc Flight 630.

Before being Emir of Kuwait, Sabah was the Foreign Minister of Kuwait from 1963 to 1991 and from 1992 to 2003.

As Foreign Minister, Sabah restored Kuwaiti international relations after the Persian Gulf War. He was also First Deputy Prime Minister while serving as Foreign Minister.

He was acting Minister of Finance from 1965 to 1967.
