American Writer, Terry Goodkind Has Passed Away



Terry Goodkind Is Dead – Death: American writer who is known for the epic fantasy series The Sword of Truth as well as the contemporary suspense novel The Law of Nines (2009), which has ties to his fantasy series, Terry Goodkind is dead. He passed away in the early hours of today September 17 2020. His cause of death or what killed him is not yet known as at the time of filing this report.

‘The Sword of Truth’ is a revered literary tour de force, comprised of 17 volumes, borne from over 25 years of dedicated writing. Terry Goodkind’s brilliant books are character-driven stories, with a focus on the complexity of the human psyche.

Terry Goodkind’s death was announced to the public in a statement released today via his official Facebook page.

This morning, Thursday, September 17th, we lost Terry Goodkind. It is a great loss. An unimaginable loss. It is impossible to put into few words just how amazing of a man, a husband, a writer, a friend, and a human, Terry Goodkind truly was. He is already desperately missed. We are forever grateful for him having shared his life’s work with all of us, as he was always grateful to be held in our hearts.

Best selling author and motivational speaker, Kevin J Anderson reacting to Terry Goodkind’s death said the news came as a shock to him.

In a series of tweet he wrote – In  shock to learn of the death of Terry Goodkind, master epic fantasy author. He was also a very close friend, but he was an extremely private man so I didn’t share photos and stories. Yes, he could be a curmudgeon and he knew it, but I loved him anyway. Miss him already.

Terry Goodkind is a #1 New York Times Bestselling Author and creator of the critically acclaimed masterwork, ‘The Sword of Truth’. He has written 30+ major, bestselling novels, has been published in more than 20 languages world-wide, and has sold more than 26 million books.

Born in 1948 in Omaha, Nebraska, Terry Goodkind’s first book Wizard’s First Rule was auctioned to a group of three publishers in 1994 and sold for a record price of $275,000.

His 12 books in the Sword of Truth series have sold 25 million copies and been translated into more than 20 languages.

Goodkind has dyslexia, which initially dissuaded him from any interest in writing. Before starting his career as a writer, Goodkind built cabinets and violins, and was a marine and wildlife artist, selling his paintings in galleries.

He is married to his beautiful wife, Jeri.
