Cochran Falls Death: Young Girl Dead.. Boyfriend Injured

Cochran Falls Death: A young woman in her early 20’s has been reported dead. The young girl whose name was not revealed was reported to have lost her life while trying to rescue her boyfriend. She fell and died along a hiking trail at Cochran Creek Falls Over the weekend.

Her boyfriend who was first found by Rescue crews told the rescue team that his girlfriend who had gone to find help has gone missing.

According to Dawson County Fire Chief, Danny Thompson, They had dispatched the rescue team in two groups, One search group worked to rescue the man while a second group searched for the missing woman. Her body was discovered about 7:15 p.m. at the bottom of the falls.

He further explained that the hiker was taken to Northeast Georgia Medical Center for treatment, he sustained injuries on his head, back and knee.

Danny Thompson also advised hikers inform people around them where they plan to hike to avoid a repetition of such incident.

Any hikers should have a plan, let people know where they plan to hike, have a map or a hiking app on their phone, have extra batteries for their phone, have extra water and food in case they get stuck, and make sure people know when you plan to return; he said.

The actual cause of the woman’s death was never disclosed. Dawson County Fire Chief, Danny did not release the names of the hikers involved in the tragic incident.
