An Auburn Man Chris Rushing dies

Chris Rushing an Auburn man has died unexpectedly on Christmas morning in his parents’ house in Macon, MS. He was 30 years old.

Chris was born on September 25, 1982, in Birmingham, AL, and graduated from Auburn University in 2005 with a degree in Journalism. He worked for Media Relations in the Auburn Athletics Department throughout his time at Auburn. At the time of his passing, he was a sports writer for The City Wire, a newspaper based out of Fort Smith, AR.

Chris’s family and friends wanted his funeral to be a celebration of his life and his love of Auburn, so along with the songs “It Is Well,” “Great Is Thy Faithfulness,” and “10,000 Reasons (Bless The Lord),” they also sang the Auburn University Alma Mater. Chris was carried out of the chapel to the Auburn fight song. His pallbearers wore Auburn gameday polos and visors.

But the best touch (to me) to salute the Auburn man that Chris was is seen in the video below, done by Alan Brazzell, who also does the intro videos for Auburn. Chris loved rolling the trees at Toomer’s Corner, so to honor him, his family and friends rolled a tree following the funeral.

Tributes Floods…

This is the most beautiful tribute and so genuine. I know his parents and love them, dearly. This Bama girl yells out a great big ole …. WAR EAGLE!!!!!!

Victory is truly knowing Christ Jesus, and in his passing to heaven a true victory was won. Rolling the tree at his funeral was a beautiful touch.
