Josef Koeberl Biography – The Australian Josef Koeberl has claimed a world record after staying inside a custom-made glass box full of ice cubes for just over two and a half hours.
The cold-blooded human is an ‘ice swimmer’ from Austria named Josef Koeberl stayed in an icebox for around 2 hours and 30 minutes, therefore breaking his own world record.
A custom made icebox was made to make this happen. Koeberl managed to stay in it for 2 hours, 30 minutes, and 57 seconds. He was sitting inside in nothing but swimming trunks with icecubes reaching till his shoulder. Around 200 kg of ice was put inside the box.
Sitting in a tub of ice, that too with no clothing whatsoever is no mean feat. Koeberl’s aim was to fight the ‘wave of pain’ which comes with coming in contact with ice. How did he try to focus in such frigid.
The answer was positive thoughts. “I struggle with pain by visualizing and immersing myself in positive emotions so that I can alleviate this wave of pain,” The Guardian quoted.
When he came out of the freezer, he felt great when the sun hit his back. They quoted, “It felt really good.”
The event took place in a small Austrian town called Melk, where people gathered to see how it accomplished this incredibly difficult task.
This is not the first time Koeberl has tried this feat. He did the same in 2019. He broke last year’s record by 30 minutes this year.
There is no stopping him now. Josef Koeberl also wants to go one step further. He wants to break his current record next year, this time in Los Angeles. Well, we hope you can do it there too!
