Mzanzi viewers got terrible news this morning that their favourite actress, Thandeka Mdeliswa has sadly passed away. Thandeka Mdeliswa tragically died today after she was shot and killed at her family’s home in Evander, Mpumalanga.
According to police spokesperson, Brigadier Leonard Hlathi who confirmed the sad incident explained that the whole issue started when two men walked into Thandeka’s home on Thursday and had an argument with Mdeliswa’s brother.
The police spokesman further explained the argument between the two men and Thandeka’s brother went violent which out of anger one of them grabbed his friend’s firearm and allegedly shot Melissa.
On committing the tragic act, The two dashed out in tin air.

Thandeka Death: Family Releases A Statement
The family has released an official statement on what really transpired that led to the death of Thandeka.
It is with great sorrow that we inform you of the passing on of our dearest daughter.
She was shot in Evander, Mpumalanga on Thursday 3 September 2020. She was immediately rushed to Evander hospital, stabilized then airlifted to Withbank after which she was transferred to Steve Biko Academic Hospital (Pretoria) as her condition was critical but stable. The circumstances surrounding her shooting are still under investigation by Evander SAPS in Mpumalanga.
She was a young, talented and inspirational actress which her family and community were looking to see flourish. We had a lot of expectations for her.
The brutality which was inflicted on our daughter has left us deeply hurt. This is another incidence of violence against women (Gender-Based Violence) which our country has fought against. We believe that justice will be served.
Thandeka Mdeliswa Biography (Who Is She?)
Thandeka Mdeliswa is a popular South African actress who came into the limelight of the entertainment industry after starring role as Khanya in the SABC1 drama series iKani, which was her first acting role in television.
She studied acting at Brumilda’s Acting Academy and booked her first television role in 2013, starring in an episode of the e.tv drama anthology series eKasi: Our Stories entitled “Ibiza” (Season 5, Episode 11). The episode first aired on 23 September 2013.
Thandeka returned later in the season to play a different role, in an episode entitled “Church vs Shebeen” (Season 5, Episode 33), in which a well-respected pastor finds love in a new girlfriend after his wife left him five years ago.
In 2014 she guest-starred in an episode of the SABC1 docu-drama series Ngempela and the following year she starred in the telemovie The Contract, which was part of the Mzansi Magic “Lokshin Bioskop” strand. The movie first aired on 4 July 2015.
She was also a guest star in an episode of Generations: The Legacy which aired on 11 September 2016.
In 2018 she starred in another “Lokshin Bioskop” movie on Mzansi Magic, called Imoto Kokufa. The movie is about a young man whose desperation to own a fancy car leads him down a dangerous path when he purchases his boss’s wife’s stolen car.
