A massive chase took place in rural South Australia with an armed fugitive and his companion.
Alex Blake and his girlfriend were arrested by STAR police in an area near Beltana just after midnight.
The fugitive, who was wanted for an investigation into the Queensland shooting incident, was arrested in South Australia after a day-long search that involved several provinces.
Neighbours of a town in the east SA city yesterday were robbed when police arrested Alex Blake.
Mr Blake is believed to have been arrested in Carrieton and is currently in a Port Augusta police cell.
Earlier, police had pursued Mr Blake in an area near Leigh Creek, a coal-mining town north of the Ikara-Flinders Ranges National Park.
Highway officials found Ute Mr Blake and a woman present, heading north on RM Williams Way just before 4 pm yesterday when it turned into Flinders Ranges Way.
PolAir was called to help and followed the ute to Leigh Creek where it eventually ran south to Warraweena station, then to Nantiburry Creek before turning right onto a dirt road to scrubland.
The ute is about seven miles south of Warraweena Station.
