Many have spoken. Many have heard. Many are unknown.

On Monday, March 9th, 2020 my husband and loving father of our three precious children peacefully passed away.

Typing this gives me great pain and anxiety. Still seems surreal. Like if I don’t type this, it doesn’t have to be real. We’ve been processing this event along with so much more. Inconceivable.

The kiddos are doing as good as can be expected. I worked quickly and diligently to have counseling, bereavement services, and to have unconditional love surrounding the four of us as we walked along Derrick’s side to his journey home.

We are comforted by the steadfast love of an almighty and righteous Father. We know Derrick is made whole again. His injuries no more. He lives on with us in spirit, in our hearts and memories, and in our three babes.

Derrick’s wishes were for cremation and celebration of life. We are working on details to follow regarding services. Unfortunately, with the current state of the nation, issues with travel, risks for those especially who are Immunocompromised, the current school closings through the month, we are considering postponing.

I know, sounds crazy, but life is precious. We want all who would like to attend to be able to, to be able to travel with ease, and for us all to be safe.
We want to extend our gratitude to those of you who kindly donated to various benefits from August 18, 2018 Acorns Golf Tournament, to other events, to a “Believe in Derrick” account at State Bank of Waterloo (which whom we do not know who is the “owner” of such account).

In good conscience, I need to articulate we are still experiencing a roadblock and haven’t been allowed access to those family funds. Overall, we trust and know God will provide.

He already has on countless occasions along this journey! We praise you LORD! Words cannot express the depth of our appreciation for all the love and support that has been shown to Derrick, myself, and our three children.

As we move forward in faith, we kindly ask that you would send any “love gifts” directly to: Monroe County House of Neighborly Services DEWILDE CHILDREN MEMORIAL account. Your donations will benefit Louis, Cooper, and Jordyn in their educational pursuits; which was a shared goal of Derrick and myself — to assist each of them as best we could.

“Train a child up in the way they should go, And when they are old they will not depart from it.” (Prov. 22:6) May God allow this to be so. Thank you for walking beside each of us.

Blessings and peace over you,
In Jesus. Amen.
Much gratitude,
Derrick, Jen, Louis, Cooper, Jordyn, and fur babies Jack and newest member Jill.

P.S. If you would be so kind as to share photos for his memorial, it would be greatly appreciated. We can make copies and will gratefully return the originals to each owner.
