Well Known South African Sports Journalist, Sbu Mseleku Has Passed Away

The Sports media were shocked this morning to receive a sad news that legendary football writer S’busiso Mseleku has passed away. S’busiso Mseleku was reported to have died today at the died aged 59 in a Johannesburg hospital.

According to their family spokesman Vincent Magwenya, Mseleku died in Midvaal Private Hospital in Vereeniging on Monday night from “a short Covid-19-related illness”.

Mseleku was a long-time sports editor of City Press‚ and previously a prominent football writer for Sowetan and Drum magazine.

Well-known City Press football writer Timothy Molobi‚ currently the Sunday newspaper’s editorial manager for news and sports‚ worked closely with Mseleku for a number of years.

Mseleku left behind his wife and five children.

Having left his office as City Press Sports editor last year, Mseleku started off his own digital platform called Mseleku Sports.

The City Press in an official press release via their twitter handle also confirmed that Sbusiso Mseleku has passed on.

In a series of tweets they wrote “Former sports editor, S’Busiso Mseleku, succumbed to Covid-19 last night. He worked for City Press for many years, before forming his own company, Mseleku Sports, last year. He is survived by his wife and five children. City Press extends its condolences to the Mseleku family.”
