Florida police tried to handcuff an 8yo with special needs accused of hitting a teacher. The handcuffs were too big, but he was briefly jailed.

Police defended it as “standard operating procedure.” His mother is now suing over disability rights violations.

According to an incident report seen by The Independent, the incident happened in late 2018,

Crump shared a statement saying he would represent the family of the 8-year-old who was arrested by Key West Police Department in Florida.

The child was arrested and charged with battery, Crump said.
