Noma Gigaba arrived in court flanked by her defense team Advocates Thembeka Ngukaitobi and Dali Mpofu

This morning we are at the Hatfield Magistrates Court where Noma Gigaba, wife of former Minister of Finance Malusi Gigaba, will make her first appearance on charges of malicious damage to property.

Noma Gigaba was arrested on Friday at her home for malicious damage to property and criminal injury.

She will make her first court appearance today after spending the night at the Brooklyn Police Station. She was granted R5000 bail on Saturday.

It is expected that during the The court proceedings she will answer why an apparent domestic dispute being investigated by the Hawks, with the elite crime fighting team says there’s more than the case.

During the court proceeding  only four media houses where are allowed inside the court room.

Dali Mpofu while speaking asked the court to postpone the matter to 14 September “we intend to bring certain civil matters in relation to this which will deal. With the validity of the charges”.

According to Mpofu; “We’re asking for the court to extend her bail. She’s not a flight risk. The whole thing was unnecessary, your worship”

He also said that Gigaba was staying with friends when she released on Saturday. She’s now allowed to go back home. “We don’t want people to say she’s breaching bail conditions”.

Thereafter their case was postponed to 14 September, Court adjourned.
