Actress Mary Twala has passed away. Mary Twala died at the age of 80 year old. The legendary star of stage and screen died leaving a legacy of a long career and inspiration. She died at her home.
The sad news was relayed by Somizi Mhlongo her son who confirmed that his mother Mary Twala who is a popular actress has left South Africans and the world!

Trow back on 12 May 2019, Somizi remembered at a troll who disrespected his mom.
While many people celebrated Mother’s Day on Sunday by posting sweet messages to their moms on social media, Idols judge Somizi had to defend his mother against a troll who spoke badly about her looks.
The Twitter user posted a photo of Somizi with his mother, veteran actress Mary Twala, saying he felt sorry for Somizi’s husband, Mohale Motaung, if Somizi were to age like his mom.
In the now-deleted tweet, @Andrielmolobel3 said, “Imagine if Somizi would age like his mom, poor Mohale.”
This caught Somizi’s attention, who then responded by saying:
“Let me engage u…I am proudly gonna age like my mom…..happy and content….just wish yo mom reaches my mom’s age ….and I used the word poor in a wrong sentence…… coz Mohale won’t be…I hope it’s not the case with u and yo gorgeous ageless mom…..u can now unfollow.

Few Things You Need To Know About Actress Mary Twala
Mary Twala was born on September 14, 1939, she was a veteran South African actress who in 2011 got nominated for Africa Movie Academy Award for Best Actress in a Supporting Role.
Twala has featured in several south African local productions. She was a guest cast in the first season of Generations. In 2007, she starred in local drama, Ubizo: The Calling.
In 2010, she played a support role in Hopeville, the film won numerous awards in several festivals and award ceremonies.
She played “Ma Dolly” in the film, which earned her best supporting actress nomination at 6th Africa Movie Academy Awards. After undergoing a medical procedure that kept her out of filming for months, Twala made a comeback in Vaya (film) in 2015.
In 2016, she was one of the ensemble cast in Comatose, a film that featured top acts across Africa including Bimbo Akintola and Hakeem Kae-Kazim. The film tries to establish the point at which it is justifiable to lose a loved one that is unconscious. In 2017, she played a supporting role in the sport film, Beyond the River.
By October in the same year, it was announced that Twala will feature in a new television drama series on Mzanzi Magic titled The Imposter.
