The Home Town John Combe episode now, unfortunately, doubles as a goodbye to the 70-year-old John, who moved to Laurel after spending a decade in Belize and a lifetime globetrotting before that.

John made an immediate impression with viewers for being the first participant in Home Town history to give the Napiers an unlimited budget. (In fact, I’m pretty sure he’s the first person I’ve ever seen do this on *any* home renovation show.) “The sky’s the limit,” John said in an on-camera interview, shrugging away Ben and Erin’s disbelief and giving the Home Town John Combe episode its official title.

John H. Combe was born on Monday, May 23, 1949 and passed away on Saturday, April 04, 2020. John H. Combe was a resident of Mississippi at the time of passing.

From Elizbeth Fitz

“Just saw the second airing tonight-so sad to hear! John was such an interesting, well-travelled fellow – he was so moved and grateful to you and Ben for giving him a beautiful new home. I’m sorry to hear he had so little time there, but it was clear he was ‘home’.”

    I am saddened to hear
Mr. John Combe passed in April of 2020.

The “Sky’s the Limit” episode I watched tonight, for the second time and saw the dedication of
“In Loving Memory ” to him at the end of the episode. He was quite a fun character and so appreciated your hard work that he called his new Home “Heaven!”

Blessings to “y’all” from Northern California…Nana Wilda

I also watched that episode several times. As I was watching it I felt that John knew something that none of us knew about him. Quite possibly John knew That he was going to die. As I watched that episode It was the feeling I got about him.I have had many sad things happening in my life the past nine months. My husband has passed away and my two loving dogs have died. I have had some really dark days with feelings sometimes Too painful to endure. John Combes death has inspired me to move on With my life and live. Maybe John did know some thing as he was making the video with H GTV. In The meantime John Combe has enlightened me To get in touch With whats really important In life. “Peace of mind.“. Thank you John Combes.
As he said he’s happily overwhelmed.
