In order to cover up his crime, Guan Moumin tucked the woven bag into a covered secondary septic tank to hide, and then returned to his home.

According to forensic identification, the victim Guan Moumou suffered head injury and suffocation caused by blunt violence.

The police brought Guan Moumin back to the abandoned septic tank to identify the scene.

Sentenced to death suspended and restricted commutation

In December 2019, the Intermediate People’s Court of Jiangmen determined that Guan Moumin committed the crime of intentional homicide, sentenced him to death, suspended the sentence for two years, and restricted commutation. Guan Moumin did not appeal.

A review by the Guangdong High Court found that on June 29, 2019, Guan Moumin was scolded by his family when he taught his 7-year-old stepson (Guan Moumou) for trivial matters, and he resented it. At 0 o’clock on July 1, the same year, Guan Moumin woke up the child and punished him while his family was asleep. The original trial determined that Guan Moumin was able to truthfully confess his crimes and other circumstances, and considered them in sentencing. It was not inappropriate to declare the sentence. Therefore, the Guangdong High Court approved the aforementioned criminal sentence of the Jiangmen Intermediate Court.
