Dr Lukoye Atwoli is a medical expert who is also an Associate Professor of Psychiatry in the Department of Mental Health at the School of Medicine, Moi University College of Health Sciences.

Profession, Career & Achievements Of Dr Lukoye Atwoli 

Dr Lukoye is also a Consultant Psychiatrist at the Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital (MTRH) and at the Academic Model Providing Access to Healthcare (AMPATH). He is the head of Mental Health Services at the Centre for Assault Recovery- Eldoret (CAR-E) (a specialized Centre for sexual and gender-based violence).

In addition, Dr Atwoli is a Visiting Scientist at the Harvard T. H. Chan School of Public Health, and an Honorary Associate Professor at the University of Cape Town’s Department of Psychiatry and Mental Health. He is involved in research on Trauma and Posttraumatic Syndromes, Students and Youth Mental Health, and Neuropsychiatric Genetics.

Steered Moi University School of Medicine in developing 16 postgraduate and revising four undergraduate curricula, as well as digitizing content to ease access for the learners.

Led the shift of focus of the Moi University School of Medicine towards more graduate studies and research, in an endeavour to become a leading research medical school in Africa.

Leading and participating in numerous mental health research efforts, including the NeuroGAP-Psychosis project, the World Mental Health Surveys Initiative, the OSCAR project, and IeDEA
