Former Stardust campaigner Christine Keegan is dead

Tributes flods to the former Stardust campaigner Christine Keegan who has been reported dead.

The sad news of her death was made public on twitter through the social handle below:

 

Christine Keegan lost her daughters Mary & Martina in the tragic incident & her daughter Antoinette Keegan with families of victims and survivors of the 1981 Stardust fire during a protest march to the Attorney General’s Office to hand over 48,000 signatures they have collected calling for a new inquest into the fire.

She fought for 40 years for answers to how her daughters died in the Stardust tragedy.

Attorney General Seamus Woulfe announced in September 2019 that he was ordering a fresh inquest into the tragedy because the original inquest failed to “sufficiently consider those of the surrounding circumstances that concern the cause or causes of the fire”.

Dublin Senator Lynn Boylan has also confirmed the sad news of her death, Sen Lynn has been heavily involved in the Justice for the Stardust 48 campaign, paid tribute to Christine after news of her passing emerged this evening.

She said: “Very sad news tonight that Mrs Christine Keegan, the Mother who fought tirelessly for justice for her two daughters has passed away. May she rest in peace.”
