Summer Taylor, One Of The Protesters Who Got Hit By A Speeding Car Has Died



Summer Taylor, a non binary Black Lives Matter activist who was hit by a car while protesting on the I-5 freeway in Seattle, has died. Dawit Kelete, who is black, is accused of being the driver & was arrested.

Summer Taylor, one of the demonstrators who was struck by a car while protesting on I-5 last night in Seattle, died earlier this evening, according to a hospital spokesperson. Diaz Love remains in intensive care.

The 24-year-old Summer Taylor died yesterday Saturday at Harborview Medical Center of the injuries she sustained from the
fatal crash.

The driver of the car who hit the two protesting Seattle protesters was chase and apprehended by the police, He is currently at the King County Jail, ahead of his first court appearance on Monday.

Troopers said he did not have any drugs or alcohol in his system at the time of the crash.

However, they said he somehow managed to get past the roadblocks on I-5 and plow into protesters while headed in the wrong direction on the freeway.

We earlier reported yesterday that two protesters were ran over in Seattle Freeway by a speeding vehicle. According to reports protesters were strolling around the road even after they heard the car warning from the lookout.

They had no training to run to either side of the curb.

The white van parked sideways blocking the traffic would’ve made it impossible for any oncoming driver to see if anyone was behind it.

Two injured transported to Harborview. One with life threatening injuries, one with serious injuries. Vehicle has been stopped and driver is in custody. Troopers are investigating the scene.

Officials were trying to determine the motive as well as where he got onto the interstate, which had been closed by the state patrol for more than an hour before the women were hit.

Summer Taylor, 24, was murdered by Dawit Kelete on Saturday July 4th.

The driver, Dawit Kelete, 27, from Seattle, was arrested on suspicion of vehicular manslaughter, The Associated Press reported. Bail was denied. It’s unclear if the collision was a targeted attack, authorities said.

The driver, who was alone, fled the scene after hitting the protesters, Trooper Chase Van Cleave told The Associated Press.
