South African Government has approved that only Grade 6, 11 and Grade R will return to school on Monday July 2020

The South African government on Thursday 2 July 2020 announced the resumption of schools for only Grade 6, 11 and Grade R amid covid-19 pandemic in the country.
The news of school resumption was disclosed by the Minister of the Department of Basic Education Angie Motshekga who held a meeting with stakeholders on Thursday revealed that the CEM took a decision that only Grade 6, Grade 11 and Grade R will return to school on Monday, 06th July 2020.
“After careful consideration of all the reports CEM took a decision that only Grade 6, Grade 11 and Grade R will return to school on Monday, 06th July 2020,” the council said in a statement.
“We will adjust the reopening phases based on the risk-adjusted strategy which is a considered attempt to balance our approach to School Reopening taking into account all factors that affect the work we do. We are guided in this by an observation of the rising numbers of community transmissions throughout the country,” said Motshekga.
The KZN Education department have also confirmed the news revealing that only Grades 6 and 11 will be able to return to classes on Monday in the province. “Grade R learners must temporarily remain at home and await further advice.”
