Adam Kay, the 14-years-old boy that got drown in river Irwell

At around 3.30pm on Tuesday 2 June 2020, police were called to reports of concern for the welfare of a teenage boy, Adam Kay who was last seen in the River Irwell near to Clifton Country Park.

Emergency services attended alongside underwater search teams and sadly found his body in the river near a popular beauty spot .

The deceased is believed to be a 14-years-old boy.

As police interrogates the boy’s family the residents also reported spotting the emergency teams at around 4pm and the area has since been closed off to the public.

An eye witnesses have said that there are at least 40 response vehicles at the scene.

One said: “Massive incident happened at Clifton country park. In total about 40 emergency services have arrived, including police, fire engine and ambulances.”

Another eyewitness who was in the park when the incident began but asked not to be named said she saw a group of people on the bridge in the park.

She said: “We went for a walk around the park this afternoon and we saw these groups of people jumping off the bridge.

“As we walked past I heard some lads talking about jumping. We had talked for a while and as we were on our way back somebody was saying, ‘have you seen him’.

“It was horrible.”

According to him, there are at least 40 emergency service vehicles at the scene at Clifton Country Park at the moment.

The incident is believed to involve a search.

A helicopter has been circling overhead for some time and police have been joined by paramedics and fire crews.
