Use Of Sea Point Promenade During Level 4
Clir Dave Bryant (ward 115) and Clir Nicola Jowell (ward 54)
We have received queries regarding the use of Sea Point and Mouille Point Promenade level 4 restrictions. We madecontact with MAYCO member for Transport Aiderman Felicity Purchase and the SAP’s to request that the promenade pathway be made availbale for residents to use for exercise during the stipulated hours of 6am – 9am. Both have agreed that the pathway would deemed a public path and as such the residents will not apply. In terms of section 24.2a of the new regulations, recreational activities at parks and beaches are forbidden and as such access to all for recreational activilty. In summary the rules for the use of the promenade are as follows..
– Individual running, jogging and cycling is allowed only on the paved pathway areas of the promenade between the hours of 6am and 9am. masks must be worn at all times.
– In line with the regulations only residents with a 5km radius may use the area.
– The use of the grassed areas, play equipment and outdoor gym equipment is strictly prohibited.
– Access to all beaches is strictly prohibited.
We ask that residents strictly adhere to the social distancing rules while making use of the Promenade walkway as we would not want to have this valuable resource prohibited again.
