Captain Jennifer Casey missing found dead. Canadians are mourning the death of Snowbirds crew member identified as Captain Jennifer Casey who was killed on Sunday after a jet from the Royal Canadian Air Force’s Snowbirds team that was on a national tour to lift spirits during the coronavirus outbreak crashed into a neighborhood in Kamloops, B.C.
The pilot of the jet identified as Captain Richard MacDougall survived the crash after ejecting from the jet and sustained serious but not life threatening injuries. Captain Richard MacDougall is currently receiving treatment in an undisclosed hospital.
The plane had been carrying two crew members. In a tweet, the Snowbirds squadron said the surviving crew member’s injuries were not life-threatening.
A video footage shared by a witness showed two of the team’s Canadair Tutor single-engine jets taking off. One of the planes reared up almost immediately before crashing, exploding just after the pilot ejected.
A photo posted by Kamloops television station CFJC showed at least one house on fire in the Brocklehurst area of Kamloops, a city with a population of more than 90,000.
RCMP said they were unable to confirm whether anyone had been injured.
Federal Defence Minister Harjit Sajjan said in a tweet that he was deeply saddened by the news.

Jennifer Casey joined the Armed Forces in August 2014 as a direct-entry officer. Before that, she spent several years working in broadcast radio as a reporter, anchor and producer in Halifax and Belleville, Ont.
She joined the Snowbirds in November 2018.
She has a Bachelor of Arts from Dalhousie University, a Bachelor of Journalism from the University of King’s College, and a Masters of Interdisciplinary Studies from Royal Roads University.
Her first assignment as a Public Affairs Officer was at 8 Wing Trenton, the Royal Canadian Air Force’s home of air mobility. She spent the 2018 season with the CF-18 Demo Team, travelling North America and the United Kingdom with the NORAD 60 jet. Captain Casey joined the Canadian Forces Snowbirds in November 2018.
