Many people have really said a lot of things about the unarmed black man who died on Monday night after pleading with Minneapolis police officers that he could not breathe while he was being detained.
The man who was identified as 46-year-old George Floyd died shortly after the Minneapolis policemen arrived at the scene.
According to reports,a call from an employee at Cup Foods, a convenience store at 38th Street and Chicago Avenue in South Minneapolis, to the police alleging the the victim George Floyd had tried to use a counterfeit $20 bill.
Shortly two Minneapolis Police officers made a quick arrival at the scene with George in his car parked near the store.
According to the Surveillance video from a restaurant obtained by the Washington Post shows police pulling George Floyd, handcuffed, out of a car parked across from Cup Foods and walking him over to the side of a building.
Minneapolis Fire personnel arrived to find Floyd had been loaded into an ambulance by HCMC medics, according to a Fire Department report. An off-duty firefighter who witnessed the end of Floyd’s struggle with police had seen him go from struggling to unresponsive. Members of the fire crew got into the ambulance and found Floyd without a pulse.
Attempts to revive him failed and he was pronounced dead at HCMC at 9:25 p.m., according to a Hennepin County Medical Examiner report that listed his cause of death as under investigation. Floyd was 46 years old.
What Did George Floyd Do That Got Him Killed
An employee at Cup Foods, a convenience store at 38th Street and Chicago Avenue in South Minneapolis revealed that George Floyd had tried to use a counterfeit $20 bill.
From the video the late George Floyld was shouting “Please,” “Please, please I can’t breathe.”
He continued to plea with the police for several minutes, with bystanders begging the officers to let the man up. Floyd eventually loses consciousness, at which point the bystanders start calling for the officers to check his pulse. However, the officer continues to hold his knee to the back of his neck until an ambulance arrives.
Floyd was transported to Hennepin County Medical Center where he died. According to the Hennepin County Medical Examiner, Floyd was pronounced dead at 9:25 p.m. His cause of death has yet to be determined, pending the investigation.
On early hours of Tuesday morning, MPD announced the sad news of George Floyd’s death in a press release after a “medical incident during a police interaction.
