Popular German photographer and artist, Astrid Kichherr has passed away. Astrid Kircherr died on Tuesday 12th May 2020.

Her death was made known to the public by Mark Lewisohn in a series of tweets via Twitter timeline revealing that Astrid died few days before turning 82 years.  Astrid Kircherr cause of death is still yet unknown.

His tweets reads..

“Danke schön, Astrid Kirchherr. Intelligent, inspirational, innovative, daring, artistic, awake, aware, beautiful, smart, loving and uplifting friend to many. Her gift to the Beatles was immeasurable. She died in Hamburg on Wednesday, a few days before turning 82. RIP.”

Pete Best had yesterday wished, Astrid who turned 82 few days ago a happy birthday via her twitter handle.

“Happy birthday to life long friend Astrid Kirrcher. A great girl who took my favourite photo ever of a Rock n Roll band. Just happened the band were The Beatles. The original five members.”

Astrid was well known for her association with the Beatles (along with her friends Klaus Voormann and Jürgen Vollmer), and her photographs of the band’s original members – John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison, Stuart Sutcliffe and Pete Best – during their early days in Hamburg.

Astrid Kircherr was the daughter of a former executive of the German branch of the Ford Motor company.

In 1964, she became a freelance photographer, and with her colleague Max Scheler she took “behind the scenes” photographs of the Beatles during the filming of A Hard Day’s Night, as an assignment for the German Stern magazine.
