Ashley Mckinney was murdered by her former boyfriend Lamont Richardson twelve years ago (2009). Lamont Richardson strangled Ashley Mckiney to death with a belt inside the Mellon street apartment they once shared. Richardson and McKinney had a tumultuous relationship and he had abused McKinney for years.
How Lamont Richardson Murdered Ashley Mckinney
Ashley Mckinney was strangled to death by her ex boyfriend with a belt. On the morning of the murder Richardson came up behind McKinney and strangled her, Assistant Prosecutor Lew Korngut said. He then went outside to burn the belt in the bushes beside the building, leaving his and McKinney’s then 8-month-year-old daughter in the apartment unattended.
Lamont Richardson Sentenced
Lamont Richardson, 24, was sentenced to 60 years in state prison for the June 27, 2009. In 2016 Lamont Richardson was resentenced to 60 years in prison again Tuesday for strangling Ashle McKinney in the apartment they once shared.
The 60-year term was basically the same one Superior Court Judge Robert Billmeier handed Richardson in 2012.
Richardson will have to serve 85 percent of his sentence before he is eligible for parole.
