Woman & Ex Husband found dead outside her home

A woman identified as Rhonda Sears and her Ex husband John Charles were shot dead outside her home in the 300 block of RT Lane, just north of Weatherford.

The tragic incident occurred on Sunday 10 May 2020 just before 9:PM.

There has been speculation that the case is a murder-suicide, although the leadership of Sheriff’s Office declined to comment on it.

They were discovered by deputies with the Parker County Sheriff’s Office who responded to calls from area residents about hearing gunfire.

The Parker/Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office has not issued a ruling on their deaths, yet. Mr. Sears, worked as a welder, but was a hunting and fishing buff. He was arrested on Ms. Sears’ property on March 14, 2020.

The charges included Terroristic Threats To A Family Member, Criminal Mischief, Criminal Trespass With a Deadly Weapon and Unlawful Carry of a Weapon.

Ms. Sears worked as a real estate agent with Worthington Realty & Investments, but had spent years working as a veterinary technician.

“She was a great, usually very happy person. She was also a strong woman,” Dottie Worthington said. “She was a cancer survivor. And, she always helped everyone.”

Ms. Sears was very active in animal rescue. She provided foster care for the now-famous rescue dog Hope, who had been discarded with her mouth wrapped up with duct tape.

“She had a magical touch with animals,” said fellow realtor and animal rescue enthusiast Jamie Bodiford Brinkley. “She was a wonderful person who had a magical gift with animals.

My dog Flare absolutely loved Rhonda but then everybody loved her. She was very caring and very giving. She was a beautiful person with a beautiful heart.”
