Information reaching our news desk has that Uzalo and former Rhythem City actor, Sipho Ngema has passed away. Ngema died yesterday night at a hospital in Johannesburg.
His death was made known to the public by his daughter, Mbali.
According her, Sipho died at exact 10:15 pm in Johannesburg.
“He passed away [on Tuesday] night at 10:15 pm at a hospital in Johannesburg. He suffered from pulmonary hypertension, which caused his heart to fail. The family is currently discussing details of his burial” said the daughter.
Friend and Well wishers are now sending condolences to the bereaved family.
Director and fellow actor Jabulani Mthembu, via his official Facebook account pen down his tribute to the late actor.
“May your soul rest in peace, MaDlokovu. I am still shocked with disbelieve (sic),” said Mthembu.
Uzalo actress, Nomcebo Gumede also pen down her tribute to the veteran actor and recalled the moments they shared together.
“I am not OK. I’m finding it hard to process the terrible news. Our careers brought us together and I got the opportunity to share some beautiful scenes with the talented Sipho Ngema. He was my long lost boyfriend (Terror) at first I was very scared of him and he said “don’t worry sweetie am just ugly but I don’t bite” from there on we became very close, we met again at Etv and it was a beautiful reunion,” said Gumede in an Instagram post.
Sipho Ngema Biography
Sipho Ngema was a South African actor who came to the limelight of the entertainment industry after picking up a role as Raymond in the e.tv soapie Rhythm City.
Sipho Ngema was previously known for his supporting role as Luthando, the drug-dealing boss of the carwash, in the Mzansi Magic miniseries Stash, in 2013.
He had small roles in a number of television series including the e.tv anthology series eKasi: Our Stories and the kykNET drama series Hartland.
Other television series he appeared in include Amagugu, Shabangu P.I., Tempy Pushas, uSkroef noSexy and Uyaphapha.
He also had a recurring role as Terror in the third season of the SABC1 soapie Uzalo. His first appearance on the show was in Season 3, Episode 139 (which aired on 17 August, 2017).
Sipho Ngema passed away on 21 April, 2020, after suffering from pulmonary hypertension. He died at the 47.
